Falling into Fashion

A little girl who was lost, until she found the wonderful world of fashion.

Vintage, So Adorable

My grandmother gave me this fabulous black top-handle bag that I have been dying to use since.I’m thinking it’s vintage, but honestly I don’t know. With my luck it could be from 2004 or something. But honestly, I was way to lazy to carry it around, since the top-handle is pretty small. This wonderful idea hit me today when I was getting dressed: I just took the handle off of my Vera Bradley purse, and clipped it to the (hopefully) vintage one. I’m like obsessed now, I just want excuses to carry it around.

Nostalgia

Does anybody remember these? They’re called Harumika. Basically what they are is these dress forms, with a hole in the back. You take this stick and jab the fabric so it stays on the dress form. It’s genius if you ask me. It really taught me (somewhat) of fabric manipulation, even though it’s on an extremely small-scale. I used to use them all the time. And somehow they got shoved into the bottom of a drawer and I hadn’t used them in about a year. When I took them out, I knew I had to play with them.

They don’t really have any kind of correlation, but they were kind of inspired by Amy Winehouse/ 50’s/ tropical/ No Doubt. If that makes any sense at all. Especially with the cherry-print bandeau with the long skirt. And, obviously, the full 50’s style skirt the with music nots. Please excuse  the severe clashing of prints, even though it does look #totesamaze if you ask me.

I honestly don’t even know if you can still buy them: I used to buy them at toys R us. I  know so chic.  www.harumika.com

“I participated in the transformation of my era. I did it with clothes, which is surely less important than music, architecture, painting… but whatever it’s worth, I did it.”

Yves Saint Laurent

Strings

Hi! Hope you had a lovely day!

Music honestly is probably the most influential thing in my style. Songs sway what I’m going to wear pretty much every day. So basically if I wake up and listen to Two Door cinema club, it will probably be my red jeans. But if I wake up and listen to something like The Pretty Reckless, obviously it means I’d toughen it up a little bit. Maybe even throw on my favorite bordeaux red lipstick. I just find it really inspiring to listen to something and really base your whole outfit on how the song makes you feel. I usually even base my mood on what I’m listening to. I think that’s why I like to listen to everything. I mean literally, I’ll listen to pretty much anything. One minute it’ll be One direction, the next Lupe Fiasco, and later, Ed Sheeran. And If you havent listened to Ed Sheeran I suggest you go check out his album + right now. Or you will be shamed. Really. No you wont be shamed but you should really check it out.

I’ve been loving Young the Giant. Just the whole atmosphere it creates, like just is really fresh. If that last sentence made any sense. Probably not. Anyway, this song is amazing. And the location of the video = stunning.

Plus, you can even get it free, as of now, here!

Getting Crafty (or at least attempting to)

Make your own nail polish. I heard about this on pinterest, and I knew I had to try it. It seemed like it would be fairly simple, and it was for the most part. It’s pretty sheer, so dont expect it to be a Deborah Lippmann. I choose to make Black, because I ran out of the black I had before. Tragic, I know. I used:

1. clear nail polish (clearly the quality on all of this is up to you, I used a generic one from walgreens,)

2. Eye Shadow (I used E.L.F)

3.I used the end of a makeup brush to crush the eyeshadow.

So basically what you do is:

1. Crush up your desired shade of eyeshadow into a powder.

2. take the nail polish brush and put the eyeshadow on it, and put it back in the nail polish.

4. Shake for about 20 seconds

5. Repeat until desired opacity.

THIS.

I’m so excited for the Target x Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection! The collaboration includes 24 CFDA designers such as Skaist-Taylor, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Judith Leiber, DVF, Oscar de la Renta, Brian Atwood, and Marchesa, just to name a few. What’s also really great about this is that the two companies are joining not just to sell, but donate 1 million dollars to the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America.) With past collaboration being a huge hit (who could forget Missoni x Target?), this is sure to be a big success.

Need to Survive

Is anyone as obsessed with these river island palazzo pants as I am? The pretty yellow-green color is already amazing, and then the added palm-tree tropical print and the bottom. Boom. You’ve got yourself some paradise whether you’re landlocked or not.

Lobsters, Anyone?

I was recently looking at the ah-mazing shoes on neimanmarcus.com, and I stumbled upon these lobster-print toms. They’re quite Schiaparelli-esque, right?

available here

The original lobster dress was so innovative and amazing. There’s obviously a reason she is still a force of nature in fashion today.

I also loved what Anna Wintour wore to the Met this year. I loved how it was a litteral way to honor E.S, but it was also unexpected and classy. The white on white was also gorgeous.

Clear Thinking

Hi! I hope you’re having a lovely Father’s day! I’m so thankful for my Dad. He’s my rock, and I always feel safe with him. He makes me laugh when I’m sad, and supports me in everything I do. Thank you Dad, I love you. I took these photos when it was raining outside, and I think they turned out pretty good. I kinda think my pictures are a little boring, but I don’t know. I just take them for fun. And I use my iPhone, so it’s not like I use some fancy camera. I seem to get better shots when It’s raining. I think it’s because of how calm it is outside when It’s raining. I seem to think better. It also was a lot cooler than it usually is, and I can’t deal with heat. That helped a lot.

Arrivederci!

(P.S. – If you click on the pictures it makes it a slide show, thanks)
